International Baccalaureate: a new chapter in the history of Agora Princess Margaret International School
In September 2027, Agora Princess Margaret International School will take an important step forward in its educational journey with the introduction of the IB Diploma Programme and the opening of a new building dedicated to this key stage of education.
This development will complete our international educational model, offering students a coherent and academically rigorous pathway from the earliest years through to university preparation.
As the first International Baccalaureate school in Barcelona, we continue to move forward with the same vision that has guided us for almost 60 years: to educate students who are prepared to thrive in an increasingly global, dynamic and interconnected world.
Baccalaureate opens a new campus in 2027
At Agora Princess Margaret, we are continually investing in the learning environments that support our students throughout every stage of their academic and personal development. As part of this commitment, we are building a new Sixth Form Campus adjacent to our current facilities, which will open in September 2027.
Designed specifically for pre-university students, this new space will extend our educational project and respond to the needs of a pivotal stage in students' preparation for higher education and their future careers.
New spaces designed to support learning, innovation and personal development
The new building, currently under construction, will offer more than 1,400 square metres across four floors, carefully designed to encourage independent learning, collaboration, creativity, innovation and student wellbeing.
Among its facilities will be two state-of-the-art IB laboratories, fully equipped to meet the demands of international programmes while promoting practical learning, research and critical thinking. The campus will also include the new Agora Innovation Centre, an open and flexible environment dedicated to the development of STEAM competencies (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and multidisciplinary projects.
The ground floor will house a library designed as an inspiring space for study, reading and research, together with a new reception area, an additional staff room and dedicated spaces for personalised student support, including tutorial rooms and smaller teaching spaces for group work and targeted learning.
The first floor will include several classrooms and a flexible learning area with movable partitions, allowing spaces to be adapted easily to different teaching approaches, collaborative activities and larger group sessions. The second floor will accommodate additional classrooms together with an outdoor terrace and chill-out area designed to promote wellbeing and social interaction among students.
Sustainability will also be a central feature of the project. Solar panels will be installed on the roof, reinforcing our Eco-School philosophy and our commitment to responsible and environmentally conscious education. The new campus will also include landscaped outdoor areas and dedicated spaces for bicycles and scooters, encouraging sustainable mobility among students.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is one of the world's most respected and internationally recognised pre-university qualifications.
